Arriving just in time for Halloween, the second “A Wiggly Wobble the Worm story” brings Wiggly and his friends back for a warm, funny autumn adventure about curiosity, courage and things that are not quite as scary as they seem.

The second picture book in Poppy D. Finch’s A Wiggly Wobble the Worm Story series will be released in English and French just in time for families looking for a playful Halloween story to share throughout October.

This time, Wiggly’s adventure begins with a pumpkin.

A very big pumpkin.

A very comfortable pumpkin.

And, as Wiggly quickly discovers, a very delicious pumpkin.

After eating his way into its soft middle, Wiggly decides that the hollow pumpkin makes the perfect place for a nap. But while he sleeps, the farmer carries the pumpkin across the field and places it on top of a newly built scarecrow.

When Wiggly wakes high above the ground inside a pumpkin-headed figure, the misunderstanding that follows sends him racing across the farm in alarm.

Soon Midnight, Cookie and Mrs. Feather are drawn into the mystery. As dusk settles over the fields and the scarecrow appears to move, even the bravest of Wiggly’s friends begin to wonder whether something truly spooky has arrived on the farm.

Then, of course, Picklo the magical pickle appears.

What begins as a Halloween fright becomes a funny and reassuring journey through costumes, lanterns, old autumn traditions and the changing customs that eventually became part of modern Halloween.

At the heart of the story is a simple idea especially suited to young readers: things often become much less frightening once we understand them.

Wiggly and the Pumpkin Head Scarecrow continues the warm, whimsical world introduced in Wiggly Wants a Bite of the Sun, bringing back Wiggly and his friends while expanding their world through another oversized question, another misunderstanding and another unexpected adventure.
