QUÉBEC CITY, Québec — August 16, 2026 — PDFP Junior, the children’s publishing brand of Plantin, Defoe & Franklin Publishing, is pleased to announce the release of Wiggly Wants a Bite of the Sun — A Wiggly Wobble the Worm Story, the first book in a new illustrated series for young readers by author Poppy D. Finch.

Wiggly Wobble is a cheerful, curious little worm who looks up at the enormous glowing sun and reaches a perfectly reasonable conclusion—at least as far as Wiggly is concerned:

It looks delicious.

Determined to find out whether he can take a bite, Wiggly turns to his friends for help. His unusual quest brings together Midnight the cat, Cookie the dog, Mrs. Feather the chicken, and the wonderfully unpredictable Picklo as each offers a very different opinion about what might happen if Wiggly actually reaches the sun.

What follows is a warm and whimsical adventure about curiosity, imagination, friendship, and learning that even the most exciting ideas sometimes deserve a second thought.

Designed as a read-aloud picture book for young children and the grown-ups who read beside them, Wiggly Wants a Bite of the Sun combines expressive illustrations, playful humour, memorable characters, and a simple question that grows into an unexpectedly large adventure.

The book also marks the official publishing debut of the Wiggly Wobble the Worm world under the newly created PDFP Junior brand.

A New Series Begins

Wiggly Wants a Bite of the Sun is the first title in A Wiggly Wobble the Worm Story, a new series built around Wiggly and his friends.

The series will also be published in French, where Wiggly becomes Boudin Tortillon le Ver.

The French edition of the debut book, Boudin Veut Croquer le Soleil — Une Histoire de Boudin Tortillon le Ver, is being released alongside the English edition.
